Adult Spiritual Education

During both the Fall and Spring, Rev. Kistler offers folks to continue on their spiritual journey through the help of study and discussion.  Community Congregational Church is committed to the idea that we can never learn too much or explore too deeply the meaningful things of life, faith, peace, and justice.

Wednesday Night Adult Education Class, every other WednesdayNight starting September 1 at 6:30pm to 8 pm. This semester we will be using Tich Nat Hanh’s comparative religion book, Living Buddha, Living Christ. The class will also employ meditation practices, explore the similarities between the Buddhist and Christian Mystic traditions, and delve into the personal histories of the two men known to the world as the Buddha and Jesus Christ.

Here is the description from the back jacket of the book : Buddha and Christ, perhaps the two most pivotal figures in the history of humankind, each left behind a legacy of teachings and practices that have shaped the lives of billions of people over two millennia. If they were to meet on the road today, what would each think of the other's spiritual views and practices? In this classic text for spiritual seekers, Thich Nhat Hanh explores the crossroads of compassion and holiness at which the two traditions meet, and he reawakens our understanding of both.
