The Community Congregational Church (UCC) is an Open and Affirming, Just Peace congregation of the United Church of Christ (www.ucc.org). Those are fancy UCC words which basically mean in plain English, that we welcome and celebrate all people regardless of whether they are gay, lesbian, straight, bisexual, or transgender, whether they are married, partnered,
single, divorced, widowed, living with someone, or have any multiple ways of expressing family and loving relationship; and we believe that the best way to make the world a better place is to work for peace and justice - and even more than that, Jesus calls us to work for peace and justice as social justice is at the very heart of his ministry.
We try our best to live out our social justice call through a variety of partnerships and agencies within the greater Flathead Valley. We are co-founder and active leader of the Flathead Valley Multifaith Coalition. We are strive to work for gay rights, anti-bullying in our schools, and inclusion of glbtq people in our churches and community through our support of the Flathead Valley chapter of Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG); and have twice been awarded by the Flathead Alliance "The Most Supportive Church to the GLBTQ Community." We support the last resort agencies Neighbors in Need and the Food Bank with our human and financial resources. And finally, we actively work to solve the economic injustice of inadequate fair housing for our working and low-income families by adding our volunteer time and energy to Habitat for Humanity.
We are always adding new and vibrant ways to live out our faith and call to social justice and witness. Maybe you have the next great way we can Love God and Neighbor with all our heart, mind, and strength . .
